The battleship “Marat”, also known as “Petropavlovsk” of the “Sevastopol” type, was designed taking into account the lessons learned from the Russo-Japanese War. At the time of entry into service at the end of 1914, battleships of this type were the most powerful of their class among the warring maritime powers. During the Second World War, this battleship was directly involved in the defense of Leningrad until its liberation. The large-caliber guns on the ship, fired at the ground positions of the German troops aiding the city’s defense.

The maximum speed of the ship is 22.9 knots (42.4 km/h). The battleship is armed with twelve 305 mm main battery guns in four triple turrets and fourteen sponson 120 mm guns. Six single and two twin 76-mm installations, as well as six automatic 37-mm cannons and thirteen 12.7-mm DShK machine guns are responsible for covering from air threats.
