The project of modernization of the French AMX-30B tanks was developed by a group of German companies in the second half of the 80s, and later on, was tested in Saudi Arabia, but was not accepted in the service. The prototype received a 850 hp german diesel engine with an automatic transmission and new cooling system, which allowed the tank to reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h. The tank protection was also upgraded, with the installation of side skirts to counter HEAT and HESH projectiles. The main armament of the tank has not changed - a 105 mm gun with a coaxial 12.7 mm machine gun, but, in comparison to the AMX-30B series tanks it received a two-plane stabilization system with a german production electrical drives. APFSDS with armor penetration up to 350 mm were added to the ammunition. Additionally, a 7.62 mm caliber AA gun was installed on the commander's cupola along with smoke grenade launchers and thermal vision.
