F-20A Tigershark
The F-20A Tigershark is a multi-role light fighter aircraft developed in the United States by Northrop in the late 1970s, designed to operate effectively in a wide variety of combat scenarios. It was created as an upgraded version of the F-5E Tiger II with a more powerful engine, improved avionics and an expanded arsenal. Two 20-mm M39A aircraft cannons with 560 rounds of ammunition are installed on board of the aircraft. Suspended weapons include: up to 6 AIM-9L air-to-air guided missiles and 2 AIM-7F guided missiles. To engage ground targets, the F-20A Tigershark's weapons include up to 76 FFAR Mighty Mouse unguided missiles, up to 5 BLU-1 incendiary tanks, as well as up to nine 500-pound bombs, up to nine Mk 82 Snakeye 500-pound assault bombs, five 750-pound, three 1000-pound or one 2000-pound bombs in various combinations. Additionally, there is a suspended container with a 30 mm GAU-13/A cannon. Four AGM-65B air-to-surface missiles are used to strike armored targets. The fighter is capable of reaching speeds of over 2200 km/h. The 45 flares and chaff are used for protection against missile threats. |
