The J‑22M1A is a modernized variant of the Yugoslav J‑22 Orao attack aircraft, designed for ground‑attack missions and close air support. Operated by the Serbian Air Force, the aircraft is powered by two turbojet engines, offering high speed at low altitude and stable handling in adverse weather conditions. Its reinforced airframe and advanced wing mechanization allow it to operate effectively from semi‑prepared airfields.

The M1A upgrade introduces improved targeting and navigation systems along with expanded weapon compatibility. The J‑22M1A is equipped with two GSh‑23L cannons with a total of 400 rounds. The aircraft carries a wide range of guided and unguided ordnance for engaging ground and naval targets. Precision‑guided options include the KOSAVA 3 TM and FAB‑250 PGB bombs, as well as AGM‑65B missiles, VRZV‑240 rockets, and the multirole GROM‑B. For conventional strikes, the aircraft can employ FAB‑250 PGB, FAB‑250 M79, and FAB‑100 M80 bombs. Lightly armored targets can be engaged with M‑16D and M80 rocket pods, as well as heavy S‑24 rockets. Countermeasure dispensers (flares/chaff) are also available for self‑protection.
